The Ultimate Connected Toys from the UK's Leading Distributor!

After almost 40 years, Flying Toys Directors David and Janine Rawlins have retired, and the company has ceased trading.

Janine and I have really enjoyed our time in the model trade together, and met some wonderful people during this period.
A lot has changed since our early days as DPR Models, and we have been fortunate to be at the forefront of technology as Flying Toys, for so many years.

David, Janine and 6 week old Jenilee, at the British National Model Flying Championships in 1985

Established as DPR Models traditional balsawood kit manufacturer's in May 1978, the company became known for regular children's competitions using
their rubber powered Spitfires and catapult launched Concordes at the British National Model Flying Championships and Pontins Model Makers Festivals,
with the National Chuckie Championships becoming an annual event for adult enthusiasts too, on New Years Day at the Model Engineering Exhibition.

Nadia and Gavin aka 'Flying Bebop' had a special surprise in store for the Britain's Got Talent Judges,
with the pair putting on an impressive dance routine with the help of some drones!
While the rest of the panel seem thrilled with their performance, Simon is left wondering, where are the aliens?

Britain's Got Talent Auditions Week 6

Flying Toys Directors David and Janine Rawlins were delighted to see the Parrot Bebop Drone 2 presented on Britain's Got Talent,
achieving a unanimous 'yes' from the four judges, taking them through to the next round.

The Britain's Got Talent video attracted over 500,000 hits in five days, and received brilliant coverage in the toy trade press.

The Britain's Got Talent Judges had some very tough decisions to make at The London Palladium

On 21st May, Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon faced some tough decisions when it came
to whittling down the remaining 200 acts to just 40, joining the Golden Buzzer performers at the live Semi-Finals!

Fortunately, our favourite act 'Flying Bebop' proved successful.

See the live Semi-Final on Tuesday 24th May!

Making of 'Flying Bebop' as seen on Britain's Got Talent, featuring the Parrot Bebop Drone 2

The journey with Britain's Got Talent started in January 2016, following a referral from Flying Toys.

The challenge was to create something spectacular within the show's many constraints, limited space on stage,
limited duration for the audition, limited time to set up, a very busy radio environment and the show had to work first time!

The Flying Bebop Team

Flying Bebop is a dance act that combines the best artists, engineers and drones to create dynamic and beautiful shows.

The aim is to showcase what's possible with autonomous drone swarms, by increasing the level of dynamism and interaction between
both dancers and drones to such a degree that they become one medium, working together to communicate beauty and emotion.

Flying Bebop's ambition is to create the largest, most dynamic and spectacular drone shows in the world.

that provides a continuous flight time of up to 25 minutes, more than doubling the previous duration.

Remarkably lightweight for a Leisure Drone

The new Parrot Bebop 2 weighs a little more than it's predecessor at around 500 grams, but is still remarkably lightweight for a leisure Drone with a professional
specification. Capable of improved performance, incorporating four powerful brushless motors fitted with slightly larger propellers to provide additional thrust,
the Bebop 2 can climb vertically upwards at 13 mph and fly forward faster at up to 37 mph, allowing the Drone to cope with headwinds better.

New and Improved Parrot Bebop Drone 2

We take a look at the new Parrot Bebop 2, the latest generation leisure quadcopter that offers improved performance
and a better overall flight and aerial photography experience over its predecessor.

The new Parrot Bebop 2 was unveiled to the press at an event held in London towards the end of the last year. The new machine appears very
similar to its predecessor at first glance, but look a little closer and you will find that many areas of the drone have received a complete redesign.

Improved Design

Compact, robust, stable and very light (weighing only 500g), the Bebop 2 is equipped with the latest generation of sensors and technology, and
boasts a much improved 25 minutes of flying time. With impressive stability, power and manoeuvrability, even in extreme conditions, Bebop 2
offers very easy-to-use piloting with a smartphone or a tablet via Wi-Fi. It also comes with an embedded fish-eye camera, digitally stabilised
on a three-axis framework, to deliver full HD videos with perfect flow and impressive brightness. The neutral angle of the camera has been
revised to capture more ground and less sky. Now you can film and take photos at 90° without any loss of quality.

Bebop 2 is extremely easy to pilot using the FreeFlight 3 App for smartphones and tablets. Tilting the piloting device indicates the direction
(forward, backward, left, right), and the Bebop 2 follows with precision. When the 'landing' button is touched, the drone automatically lands
smoothly, whatever its altitude. Bebop 2 is also compatible with Skycontroller Black Edition, an optional RC-like controller providing an
extended flight range (up to 2km).

During flight, Bebop 2 offers remarkable stability and manoeuvrability, even in tough conditions, thanks to an autopilot unlike any on the market.
Data collected by seven sensors is analysed and merged thanks to the impressive calculation capability of its on-board computer (dual-core
processor with CPU quad-core). To make Bebop 2 the most advanced leisure drone on the market, Parrot engineers optimised the design
of the quadcopter as well as its software and hardware battery components. The result is that the Bebop 2 is the most efficient 500g drone
on the market, especially with its increased flying time. The official product launch video can be seen at https://youtu.be/2qdW7ramMr4

Improved Flight Performance

The second generation Bebop Drone has four powerful motors and six-inch flexible propellers for optimal performance. The Bebop Drone 2 is
an ultra-lightweight drone which can fly in all conditions and combines high performance flying with the capacity to remain stable, both at altitude
and in strong winds. The Bebop Drone 2 uses seven sensors simultaneously (vertical camera, ultrasound, barometer, accelerometer,
magnetometer, gyroscope and GPS) to ensure maximum stability.

Safety First

Designed to fly both indoors and outside, the Bebop Drone 2 has numerous safety systems meaning you can fly with complete peace of mind.
It has an automatic propeller shutdown system in case of emergencies, a 'Return-To-Home' function thanks to the embedded GPS and a
powerful rear LED light so you can always see which way it's going.

Special Edition Skycontroller

Controlled using a Smartphone or Tablet with a Wi-Fi range of 300 metres, the Bebop Drone 2 can also be piloted using the exclusive new black
Parrot Special Edition Skycontroller, if you prefer. Providing a more precise response by using its two conventional control sticks, the piloting
device is fixed on a shelf that will accommodate the vast majority of smartphones and tablets available on the market. The Skycontroller can
operate the Bebop 2 with or without a tablet, and extends the Wi-Fi range up to two kilometres (1.2 miles), subject to local regulations.

Furthermore, for extreme sensations you can connect a virtual reality headset to your Skycontroller, provided it's HDMI compatible, to give you a
'First Person View' (FPV) from the Drone's camera, as seen from the cockpit. The pilot can still use the Skycontroller to adjust the position of the
camera, independent from the Drones movements. The combination of numerous sensors provides impressive stability, plus great manoeuvrability
when flown with the Skycontroller, a Smartphone or Tablet.

Designed with safety in mind, the Parrot Bebop Drone 2's lightweight reinforced structure makes it robust and safe. In case of accidental contact,
all four propellers stop automatically, additionally an Emergency Mode enables you to land the drone immediately, whilst a GPS Return Home function
brings the Drone back to its take off point easily. Always connected, the Parrot Bebop Drone 2 photo and video stream is synchronised in real time
on your smartphone or tablet, so you can share your best shots instantly on your favourite social networks, such as YouTube and Facebook.

FreeFlight 3.0 App

Download a free piloting application FreeFlight 3.0 for controlling the Bebop Drone 2, that is suitable for both iOS and Android Smartphones and Tablets.
The application has been specially developed to offer ease of use, and lets the pilot focus on the pleasure of flying. On the Welcome Screen, the pilot can
easily access the following functions: Piloting, Photos/Videos, Flight Plan and the Pilot Academy. Simply complete the user settings for Altitude, Speed,
Piloting Mode, Accelerometer and Virtual Joystick. The FreeFlight app also includes fun features such as a One Touch Flip!

the Pilot Academy Map, together with the altitude and speed, plus all the recorded data.

Staying Legal

As Drones continue to grow in popularity, it's crucial for anyone intending to fly a Drone to know the rules and regulations that apply to their proper use.
particularly when used for aerial photography. Here the British Model Flying Association (BMFA), the UK's national governing body for the sport of model
flying, offers some useful tips and advice to help Drone pilots of all levels fly more safely and responsibly and stay on the right side of the law.

New Parrot range tackles land, sea and air

The new Minidrones range brings 13 distinct, connected robots to retail this August

Parrot unveiled its new range of Minidrones at a special event in London attended by TnP yesterday. In total, 13 new drones were revealed
and will launch this August. The new range was showcased at a venue with suitably high-vaulted ceilings to demonstrate the new Airborne.
drones Jumping drones and brand new Hydrofoil drones complete the three new 'clans' which each of the new connected robots falls into.

The Jumping drones are super rovers that roll, rush, zigzag, take turns at 90° and jump up to 80cm in height and length. They can see, listen
and talk for you thanks to an embedded wide angle camera, microphone and speaker. The Jumping clan includes the Night, equipped with
two powerful LEDs with adjustable intensity to illuminate the dark, and the Race, capable of travelling at 13km/h in bursts of intense speed.

The Airborne drones are quadricopters capable of performing flips and of ripping through the air at 18km/h! The Night airborne drone can fly
by day and night thanks to two powerful controllable LEDs, and the Cargo can transport drones, capable of carrying figures or toy bricks.

The Hydrofoil drones are flying drones attached to a hydrofoil boat, which can lift out of the water and reach the speed of 5.4 knots (10km/h)!

The success of our first Minidrones, which sold more than 600,000 units, pushed us to enlarge the family of these super high-tech toys, says
Henri Seydoux, founder and CEO of Parrot. After reinventing the helicopter and the radio-controlled car, we are today creating a new species
of drone, a super fast and unsubmersible hydrofoil.

David Rawlins, Managing Director of Flying Toys added: "Following the success of the first series of Parrot MiniDrones, UK Distributor Flying
Toys expect the new collection of 13 products to prove extremely popular, particularly with so much interest in drones at the present time."

RC Flight Camera Action - Issue 2

Product Review: Parrot Bebop Drone & Sky Controller.

Filming platforms don't have to be big or complicated to get great HD results. The Parrot Bebop being a prime example of just this. Its simplicity
of use, its built in feature set and its integration with the Freeflight 3 App make it one of the most user friendly drones on the market today
and we spent the last few months finding out why!

Win a Silverlit Spy Cam-2 in The Hobby Hub Competition

Evolution of Species

Over the last six months, there have been many articles published about the Parrot Bebop Drone.
Three have appeared in magazines published by Traplet Publications alone, so I'm not going to tread over old ground.

it's not exactly a new product, but it is one that's become increasingly more and more useful both in its capacity to help capture for posterity
those special family moments (like my kids playing on the park, or a cool location when on holiday) and as a very portable filming tool that I can
keep in the boot of the car and always have with me when I'm at events like our sister magazine's RRCi Scale Nationals, to be able to capture
it from a very unique perspective.

Here's how it won me over...

Parrot are very clever, as the Bebop is designed to be both an indoor and an outdoor Drone. Not many filming platforms can state the former
with confidence, and with its relatively small size and its expanded foam Bumpers, the blades are very well protected from injuring themselves
if you do glance off an object, ceiling or wall. Combine that with additional built in safety features, and you can see why it just feels less
intimidating and far more user friendly than many other RTF 1080p filming platforms on the market.

Practical Application

I've been able to fly the Bebop at indoor skate parks and get some amazing footage. The ability for me to set a position for the Bebop to hold,
and then use the Sky Controller's right thumb stick to independently frame the shot perfectly, using the 180 degree fish-eye lensed camera.

The anti-vibration algorithms built into the camera's 3-axis stabilisation system give end results in HD that rival many far more expensive
platforms. At the recent UK Scale Nationals hosted by our sister magazine RRCi, I was able to use the Bebop to shoot every aspect of the event.
From flying through the gates at the entrance and using the FPV downlink shown on my iPads screen, and then following the path at a pre-set height,
right through to the cabin in the woods, used as the control point.

It's almost there Parrot, now take it to the next level€¦

This may sound harsh, but at the moment I only give it a 7 out of 10, and that's because it still feels like unfinished business to me.
The Sky Controller is near perfect, the integration it has with a tablet or smartphone is very seamless, the drone itself is well designed,
I've even heard it called cute, and there's no denying it's great fun and easy to fly, but the final piece of the jigsaw is the Flight Plan aspect
of the Freeflight 3 App. Using waypoints and mapping its flight with anonymous functionality would make it a 9/10 easy. That would then unlock
even more potential from the plucky little drone that punches far beyond its weight, in the heavyweight world of aerial filming platforms.

Flying High RC Feature September Toy World

The radio control market has gone crazy, with competition increasing, and innovation being key to success.

With drones heavily saturating the radio control category, companies are fiercely competing to ensure that their products stand out from the crowd.
One of those companies is Flying Toys. Managing Director David Rawlins explains 'With so much competition in the RC category, it is most important
that our products are easy and fun to operate, and perform perfectly when taken out of the box. With a remarkably low returns rate, all the Flying
Toys range is covered by a manufacturer's warranty, ensuring the retailers confidence and customer satisfaction'.

David stresses that product presentation, online marketing and press coverage are also key 'All our Silverlit and Parrot products are beautifully
presented in complimentary packaging, and are often promoted online with professional videos. Flying Toys has worked closely with the specialist model
press for almost 40 years. The Parrot Bebop Drone has recently been reviewed in all the major model magazines, increasing consumer awareness'.

'This year's drone-fever has provided a perfect launch platform for Flying Toys new products and the company has seen substantial sales during the
past 12 months'. David commented 'The popularity of drones this year has provided Flying Toys with the perfect opportunity to launch 13 new styles
of MiniDrones from Parrot. The Silverlit Spy Drone is also available, incorporating a video camera and performing flips, whilst easily controlled
using a conventional transmitter.

New Parrot MiniDrones from Flying Toys

Flying Toys is distributing the new generation of Parrot MiniDrones in the UK, a collection of thirteen connected toys and miniature robots, piloted with
a Smartphone or Tablet via the FreeFlight 3 app. Compatible with both iOS & Android devices, these new MiniDrone toys are ready for action on the ground,
in the air and on water!

The Parrot Airborne Cargo Drones have been customised to carry a toy pilot, and can transport miniature freight. The Parrot Airborne Night Drones feature
powerful white LED lights, allowing the pilot to adjust the intensity of the headlights and send signals in the dark.

The Airborne Drones are full of sensors, and a 3-axis accelerometer and gyroscope measure and analyse each movement or inclination. A vertical camera
compares an image of the ground, to the previous one every 16 milliseconds, to determine the speed. It also enables the MiniDrone to take snapshots,
which are saved on the 1GB internal flash memory.

The Airborne Night Drones can achieve high speed flights of up to 11 mph and aerobatics on command, and can race, turn and perform flips with accuracy
and stability. Following a swipe on the piloting screen, the Airborne Night Drone will turn 90 or 180 degrees in a flash. Users can Choose your favourite
Parrot Airborne Cargo Drone from Travis and Mars, or Airborne Night Drone from from Blaze, Swat and Maclane.

The Parrot Jumping Race Drones are capable of rapid acceleration. Equipped with two high performance brushless electric motors plus a pair of big
extra wide wheels, they reach up to 8 mph by using Boost Mode. The two large retractable wheels adapt to different driving styles. The Jumping Night Drone
can send light signals, and has a maximum speed of 4 mph.

Parrot's Jumping Drones take pictures and videos that are directly stored on the internal 4GB flash memory and children can talk and listen through the
drone, using an embedded speaker and microphone. The drones can jump up to 75cms in height and length, and always land on their wheels!

Parrot Hydrofoil Drones unite air and water. Thanks to the four powerful propellers of the MiniDrone, the Hydrofoil slides through the water and stays
about 50cms above the surface with amazing stability and agility. As the water resistance is reduced, the Hydrofoil can reach a maximum speed of 6 mph
and turn without capsizing.

Flying Toys best seller for the first half of 2015 has undoubtedly been the brilliant Parrot Bebop Drone, acclaimed as the ultimate flying camera.
Latest development, the Bebop Drone Skycontroller will be available separately soon, allowing pilots to fly the Bebop with a Smartphone or Tablet,
and buy this sophisticated operating system later if they prefer.

Always attracting attention wherever it's flown, the amazing Aerotron-RC Flying Man continues to prove popular,
allowing youngsters to choose their favourite Superhero in red, orange or blue.

Silverlit High Flyers

On Test - The Parrot Bebop Drone

Parrot has launched the new Bebop Drone in the UK its most advanced drone yet,
which is also available with a new Wi-Fi extender, the Parrot Skycontroller.

Written by RC Rotorworld Editor Neil Mead

Parrot Skycontroller

For those who prefer physical controls instead of just using touch, Parrot has designed the new Skycontroller. This is an RC-like remote
control equipped with a Wi-Fi amplifier which provides an even more powerful Wi-Fi connection to fly with and an extended range of up to.
2km It gives you two sticks for piloting, discrete controls for the camera, a button for taking off and landing and one for emergency motor cut-off,
status lights for the battery of the Bebop and the controller, a return-to-home button, and you can wirelessly pair a tablet or phone with it for first
person view (FPV) flying, or you can display a map instead of the camera video feedback to see the position of your Parrot Bebop Drone.

Rotorworld Verdict

The Bebop is certainly a different proposition to the original Parrot AR.Drone. It's still a good RTF option, but it's moved upmarket looking
to appeal to aerial photography prosumers. It is well made and feature packed and is a lot of fun to fly. The fish-eye HD camera delivers nice
results thanks to the damped stabilisation system and built in image processing software. Despite facing increasing competition, the Bebop does
a good job of carrying on the Parrot drone family legacy by offering a good quality product that feels good, looks right and performs well.
It is more expensive than its predecessors, but it does have a lot of new and improved features which justify the extra cost. Add to that
the backing of the Parrot marketing machine and great support and spares backup, and the Bebop is sure to be another big seller.

What is the Parrot Skycontroller - Simply the best way to pilot your Bebop Drone!

The Parrot Bebop Drone is a fantastic high tech leisure quadricopter, offering all the features of a professional one. Equipped with a powerful 14 megapixels
fisheye camera, the Bebop Drone takes video and pictures of the world in a 180° field with remarkable image quality. Endowed with the fully digital technology
of 3-axis image stabilisation, the Bebop Drone captures perfect 1080 pixels high definition video, despite the movements inherent in aerial photography.

Parrot Skycontroller available in Red, Yellow or Blue

Control the angle of the camera directly from the piloting application with a simple movement of the thumb, as the shifting on the 180° angle is fully
digital and independent from the Drone's movements. The combination of numerous sensors provides impressive stability, plus great
manoeuvrability, when piloted with a Smartphone or a Tablet.

Increase your flight range up to 2km - Improve flight control of the Parrot Bebop Drone with the use of 2 ultra-precise joysticks

The Bebop Drone can also be piloted with the Parrot Skycontroller if you prefer, that may now be purchased separately. With the Parrot Skycontroller,
the piloting device is fixed on a shelf that will accommodate the vast majority of Smartphones and Tablets available on the market. Equipped with an
amplified Wi-Fi 36 dBm radio with four antennas, the Parrot Skycontroller extends the Wi-Fi range up to 2kms, subject to local regulations.
The Parrot Bebop Drone generates the latest Wi-Fi network with 2.4 and 5GHz antennas. Depending on network interference,
you can select the frequency of your choice, for indoor use in the UK.

Control the 180° Fisheye camera - Live a new and immersive experience with FPV glasses (Not included)

With the Skycontroller, take control of the drone via two ultra precise joysticks, the top right stick lets you control the angle of the camera within a 180°
field, and the top left stick enables you to navigate the app in first person view mode. Parrot continually strive to provide pilots with a comprehensive FPV
